Mrs. Severino: English

Nazareth Academy is thrilled to welcome another amazing Severino! Mrs. Severino, wife of Nazareth’s beloved Mr. Severino, is ecstatic to join our school community. I had the pleasure of getting to know this kind new teacher through the questions below. I encourage everyone to stop by and say hello to welcome Mrs. Severino to our school!

1. What classes do you teach at Nazareth?

This semester, I am teaching English 1 and Honors English 1 to the Freshmen.  I’ll have one Junior class, English 3, in the spring.     

2. Describe yourself! What are your likes, dislikes, hobbies etc.?

I have always enjoyed reading, which should not be a surprise. I write poetry and I am active on sites where poets share and discuss their work. I also love building with LEGOs. 🙂

3. Why did you decide to teach at Naz this year?

Nazareth Academy has a wonderful reputation, and Mr. Sev has loved teaching here for the past few years. When a position opened in the English department, I saw it as a sign to join the Naz family.

4. Do you have a favorite movie or T.V show?

I like silly comedies, mostly, like The Office, Seinfeld, and The Good Place.  I am looking forward to the new season of This Is Us, too.       

5. What inspired you to become a teacher?

While I had many teachers who were influential, I think my biggest inspiration is my mother. She taught my siblings and me to read long before we ever set foot in a classroom and instilled a love for the written word.  I wanted to be able to share that with others.

6. Any fun facts about yourself?

I love puns; most of my Facebook posts consist of puns and cartoons. And I was born on Star Wars Day – long before the original Star Wars movie. 🙂
