Athlete of the Quarter: Megan Smith ‘23

This quarter’s athlete spotlight is Megan Smith! She is a member of our swim team in the winter! With the season almost wrapping up, I asked her the following questions.

  1. How long have you been involved with swim?
    • I started swimming when I was 6 on a summer team, joined my school team when I was 7, and joined a club USA team when I was 9 years old.
  2. What made you want to swim?
    • I don’t know exactly what made me want to swim, but I know that as soon as I started, I knew it was something I wanted to really pursue and I loved doing it.
  3. What motivates you to do your best at each meet?
    • Honestly, I think I motivate myself to do my best at each meet. I love seeing my hard work pay off and looking at my progress throughout the season. It’s the satisfaction of doing well and loving the sport while doing it that motivates me to be my best every meet.
  4. What is your favorite thing about swimming?
    • My favorite thing about swimming is either the people I do the sport with, most of whom have become my best friends, or the hard work and happiness that comes from the success in the sport.
  5. What advice do you have for other athletes?
    • My advice for other athletes is do not give up especially if it’s something you love. Even when you aren’t seeing as much progress and are struggling to keep up, keep going because the hard work you put in even when it’s hard, will pay off in the end.
  6. How was the season this year now that you’re wrapping up?
    • I have to say that Nazareth had a very successful season overall, with great meets and being very competitive with the other teams. We have districts in 2 weeks and are getting ready for that, which is going to be a great meet!
