Welcome, Mrs. Hartey!

Welcome, Mrs. Hartey!

Madeline Scott '22

I had the chance to interview Mrs. Hartey, our newest Assistant Principal for Student Life. Keep on reading to get to know her!

1. Why did you decide to become a teacher?

I love math and English, but more importantly, I love working with young people. Young people are awesome and energetic and are at such an exciting point in their lives when they have the potential to become anything they want!

2. How did you get to Nazareth?

I came to Nazareth from Saint Basils, where I taught for the last 8 years. Prior to that, I taught at Springfield High School in Flourtown after studying Math and English at Notre Dame.

3. Are there any fun events or Naz traditions that you have enjoyed so far or are looking forward to this year?

The Welcome Back Block Party was a great way to start the year! I also loved Freshman Week and our special Masses. I look forward to the Fall Festival, NAZ-AThon, and more. The students at Nazareth have been amazing–special shoutout to the L Team!

4. What’s your favorite food?

Pizza!

5. Share a fun fact about yourself.

I played soccer at the University of Notre Dame and worked as a trainer for the football team. I have 3 sons and a daughter (and 3 brothers and a sister). I can dribble four basketballs at one time. I love to bake!

A big thanks to Mrs. Hartey for taking part in this interview and doing a fantastic job this year! The Nazareth community is so excited to have you!
