2023 Valedictorian: Meghan Scott

The Valedictorian for the class of 2023 is Meghan Scott. On the day that her accomplishment was announced, Meghan says that “Everyone saw the shock on my face,” but surprise wasn’t the only thing she was feeling. “I was really excited because it felt like all my hard work for the past four years had kind of paid off…it felt really good.” In addition to being a great student, Meghan has been an integral part of the Nazareth community for the past four years. Continuing with her work as president of the National Honors society, Meghan offered advice to succeed in school as she has. She says “learning what works best for you…like what studying tips…and how to manage your time and juggle different things at once through trial and error…and not being afraid to ask for help!” As a member of student council, Naz-A-Thon, Pandas Stand Up, and many honors societies, you have probably seen Meghan working hard around the school. She is also a great athlete, and will continue her diving career at Villanova. Our school is so proud of what you’ve done here, Meghan, and we know you’ll do great at Villanova next year!

2023 Salutatorian: Ciara Garvey

This year’s salutatorian is Ciara Garvey! In her four years here at Nazareth, besides the numerous honor societies she is a member of, she has also been involved in “orchestra, jazz band, chamber ensemble, saxophone quartet, … stage crew for the musicals, as well as other clubs like PIP club, cancer awareness club.” Outside of Nazareth, she also Irish dances!

With everything she has been involved with at Nazareth, particularly in the music department, she has a lot of fun memories. With so many memories, it’s hard to think of a particular favorite, but she mentioned how at “basically any music department event, there’s always something goofy that happens, or in music class, … there’s always some funny comment or tangent that occurs.” Ciara has taken numerous ap and honors classes at Nazareth, but she says that her “favorite class by far was AP chem. I absolutely love Mrs. Scott and there was a small class – there were only about nine of us, so there was a good group of girls and it was just a lot of fun. Also, shout out to Mr. Z and Ms. Chmelko – they’re pretty cool too I guess.”

In the fall, Ciara is “going to Penn State Main for Biochem and Molecular Biology.” Way to go Ciara! She says that she is looking forward to “meeting new people – it’s a much bigger school obviously than Nazareth so I’m excited for the different environment.” Some advice she offers to everyone at Nazareth is “Don’t be too hard on yourself. Obviously put in the work that you need to do, but don’t stress. Make sure you get sleep before tests rather than pulling an all-nighter; you do better when you’re calm so take rest time” Great advice, Ciara, and good luck as you take your next steps after Nazareth!
