2022 Powderpuff Football Game
November 30, 2022
The scores are IN and it is Seniors-2, Juniors-0. This means only one thing – the Class of 2023 has now officially won both of their Powderpuff Football games, after resounding victories as juniors last year and as seniors this year! As Mr. Clark put it at the beginning of the game, “it’s a great day for a senior victory.” Students cheered on their friends throughout the game, with cries of “GO JUNIORS!!”, “GO GO RY!!”, and “GO Nikki B!!”
Speculations about the turn of the game were running rampant. Meghan Scott noted that “I think that the Seniors are going to win.” Mr. Soko also provided some great commentary! At halftime, he said “Love the powderpuff game, Juniors are playing their hearts out, and it’s been a rough first half-GO GO GO!!- but I think they’re going to turn around in the second.”
At the end of the game, mixed emotions were in the air. About his Junior team, Mr. Soko reviewed the game and commented “Hey it all comes down to that last play there. If Maddie catches that ball, it’s a different game, we’re talking about a tie, we’re talking about overtime, but they put up a hell of a fight, Maddie threw some great balls as quarterback, Devon pounded the hell out of those balls as running back, and Nell Duesler really stepped up on defense with a key turnover, so lot to be proud of, lot to look forward to next year.” Junior Isabella Acevedo gave her thoughts: “It’s kinda sad, but there’s always next year.” According to Mr. Marchese, the other Junior team manager, “it was a hard-fought game, defensive battle, you know, we make one play at the end, we win, so they worked hard, seniors are a good team, and we’ll see what happens next year.” On the other hand, Mr. Clark, the Senior team manager said, “Well, I did say it was a good day for a senior win – it’s an even better day for a senior win.” As senior Melanie Collier put it, “I knew we could do it, I’m so proud of our seniors, we are the best team and we will forever be the best team.” And another student said, “The juniors played well, I’ll give them credit, but they didn’t play well enough.”
Well, there we have it! Congratulations Seniors on another victory, and to the Juniors, good luck next year. Can’t wait to find out what happens next year!
