Right before Thanksgiving break, the junior and senior classes faced off in the annual Powder Puff football showdown! The juniors were coming off a wonderful ring mass ceremony the previous night and a fun morning of working with members of SPIN (Special People In the Northeast). The seniors were eager to avenge their loss in last year’s matchup with the class of ’24 and were full of energy. This year, the junior side was coached by Mr. Nolan, Mr. Soko, and Mrs. Kelly, while the seniors were led by Mr. Adamchak, Mr. Clark, and Mr. Marchese. On the sidelines, the freshmen waved signs for their beloved senior sisters as the sophomores supported their junior friends. After the national anthem, beautifully sung by Anna Woltjen ’26 and Catherine Oniate ’26, the yellow senior team kicked off to the blue junior side, and the game was on!
On the first play, a fumble led to a senior touchdown, quickly setting the juniors back. Their difficulties continued. The final score was 23-2, a blowout victory for the seniors. The day culminated in scenes of ecstasy for the seniors and equal scenes of despair for the juniors. On the plus side, the juniors have a full year to improve and work out the kinks in order to be prepared to take on the class of ’27. Congratulations to the seniors on their well-deserved win, and good luck to them for the rest of their final year at Nazareth! See below for action shots!
