On Friday, January 31st, Nazareth Academy’s Tri-M Music Honor Society hosted the annual Battle of the Bands! This year’s theme was Surfin’ N.A.Z. The gym was colorfully decorated to fit the tropical theme. Four different high school bands competed, and our house band, The Stolen Stereos, played in between the acts. The bands that competed were The Zookeepers, Ratpack, Stanza, and XWF. Each band had an excellent representation of vocalists and instrumentalists. They played many different songs and stayed mostly within the rock genre. However, they did offer some other varieties of music, including Taylor Swift and classic rock. The crowd responded well and was dancing and singing along to all of the acts.
After all of the bands performed, the audience was given the opportunity to vote for their favorite band. The judges also chose the best band and best instrumentalists. This year, the winner of the popular vote was XWF. Then, chosen by the judges, the winner for best guitarist was also from XWF. The best bassist was from The Zookeepers, the best drummer was from Ratpack, and the best instrumentalist was the saxophonist from Stanza. The winner for the best band of the night was The Zookeepers! Another amazing display of talent from this year’s Battle of the Bands has us all looking forward to next year’s event.
