This year, Nazareth is proud to welcome our new president, Ms. AmyLynn Flood! Ms. Flood attended LaSalle University for her undergrad and received a master’s degree from Drexel University. For the whole of her professional career, she was a public accountant and worked for PwC. She stated, “Honestly I wasn’t looking for a change in careers, but once I saw the job opening at Nazareth, it sounded like what I was already doing and described my strengths.” Ms. Flood has always valued helping nonprofits, and she saw the position at Nazareth as a clear opportunity to advance this vision.
As a Nazareth graduate, Ms. Flood has a long history at Nazareth. While a student, she was involved in Community Service Corps, Mathletes, and was a music major. She reflected that “The music department was a big part of my life at Naz. I participated in chorale, piano, and played the handbells.” She laughed and said, “I mentioned this to Mr. Z. and told him that we need to bring the handbells back to Naz!” When she thought back to her experience in high school, she remembered the chapel as the center of her time here. “Setting foot in the chapel for Mass again really brought back memories of Masses as a student. Seeing it again was a big moment for me.” she commented, one week after the mass officially installing her as the president of Nazareth Academy.
Ms. Flood’s goals as president start with establishing the theme of “elevate” throughout the Nazareth community. She pointed out that she “doesn’t think we are doing anything wrong, but we can always do better.” Ms. Flood wants Nazareth to become the first private school that people think of to send their daughters to in the area. “When you think about it, Nazareth is the only all-girls private Catholic school in Philadelphia,” she added, “there is a ton of history there.”
In her free time, Ms. Flood enjoys going to Eagles games. In addition, two of her children are seniors this year. “That means we will be very busy and attending lots of graduations!” she said with a smile. As a Nazareth community, we welcome Ms. Flood as our new president, and we are lucky to have her!
