Fall Athletes reflect on their first season at Nazareth

Sports at Nazareth are a big part of our school. This year was and is a big year for Nazareth sports as we have moved into the PCL league. Many student-athletes thrived this season. If you want a closer look into their experience, we have interviewed some of our student-athletes from each sport to see their perspectives. 

 Cross Country:  

For cross country, we interviewed Mary Clark, 27” (1), Helena Woods, 27’ (2), and Erin Haggarty, 27’ (3). 

 What is your favorite part of cross country? 

Mary Clark, 27’ said the Meets were her favorite part of the season. 

Helena Woods and Erin Haggarty, 27, stated

, “the team and the bond we all share.” 

What would you say to people who are considering joining cross country? 

“Do not compare your times to others because some people are mo

re experienced.” 

    “Do not give up; you will get better with time.” 

“It is a big commitment and a lot of dedication. You need to put a lot of time and effort into it.” 

 Who is your inspiration? 

The three of them have stated their inspiration is Gary Martins. 

 What was your favorite memory of this season? 

“The PCL champs and Hershey” 

  “States and Pasta Party”

“When we won districts and knew we were going to states.”   

 Volleyball:  

For volleyball, we asked Emma Biederman, 27’ (1), Maureen Cronin, 27’ (2), and Aubrey Davis, 27” (3). 

 What was your favorite part of the season? 

“My favorite part of the season was the pre-season and how we were all excited for the season to start and getting to know each other. 

“The bus rides and WaWa stops were my favorite part of the season.” 

Aubrey Davis has said, “The Wawa trips because w

e all became so close and got to bond.” 

 What would you say to people who might be

considering playing volleyball? 

“Keep your spirits high and always keep a positive attitude.” 

“The environment is warm and welcoming, and everyone clicks fast.” 

“I would say join because you make so many friends, and it’s an amazing experience.” 

 Who is your inspiration for volleyball? 

“Olvia Tomes, Emily Richer, and Madison Blum

are my inspirations because they always motivate me to try my hardest and to keep a positive attitude.” 

“Olivia Lentinene and Kenna Whalen” 

“The upperclassmen because they make us feel so welcome.” 

 What was your favorite memory of the season? 

Emma Biederman, 27’ said, “My block against Lansdale Catholic was my favorite memory of the season and the pool party at the beginning of the year.” 

Maureen Cronin, 27’ stated, “Senior night when we were all bonding and reminiscing about the season and our favorite moments.” 

 Soccer: 

For soccer, we interviewed Tessa Pirolli, 27’ (first), and Camryn Fahy, 27’ (second), and got their perspective. 

 What was your favorite part of the season? 

When we beat Ryan 2-1 in the PCL semi-final to

advance to finals.” 

The PCL semi-finals because we lost to Ryan earlier in the season, 3-2, and everybody was excited and hungry for the win. We ended up winning to them 2-1, and the bus ride home is something I will never forget.” 

 What would you say to people considering playing soccer? 

“It is a memorable experience, and you will meet many amazing people. It is worth all the hard work.”   

“You should always work hard at practice, or you will have to do sprints.” 

Who is your inspiration for soccer? 

The team captains because they were such good leaders and great teammates who pushed me to do my best.” 

“Grace Reteneller because of how hard she works. She never gives up and always pushes me to do my best.” 

 What is your favorite memory of the season?  

“Getting my first varsity minutes in the game against Pennington.” 

“The pasta party.” 

 Golf:

We asked Golfer Adrianna Servalli 27” for  

What was your favorite part of the season? 

“Going to different golf courses and getting to know my teammates.” 

What would you say to people considering playing soccer? 

“It is as good as any sport. It is so competitive because you always compete against yourself to get better and win other tournaments.” 

Who is your inspiration for golf? 

My inspiration is the competitiveness and the challenge to improve every time I play.” 

 What is your favorite memory of the season? 

My favorite memory of the season was winning the PCL since it was our first year in a new league.”
